Vinyasa style of yoga emphasizes getting into the flow of asana (the postures) by corresponding breath to movement. Settling into the flow allows the fluctuations of the mind to settle as you unite (“yoga” means to yoke or unite) your mind and body. Vinyasa focuses on building internal heat and discipline through the breath as you flow from one pose to the next. My class emphasizes breath work (pranayama) and sustained concentration during class, and oftentimes classes include yoga philosophy as an inspiration to guide the flow. Ultimately, my classes trying to create a comprehensive experience of yoga: bringing the mind, body, and soul together as one.
Note: April’s classes are heated to 76 degrees with the exception of Wednesday evenings.
