Yoga Retreat in Italy

Celebrate the Summer Solstice on a week-long retreat with April Oquenda in the beautiful Tuscan region of Italy. This sacred time of the solstice invites more action and nourishment, since the daylight increases to its year-long height on June 20th.

Our time together will be dedicated to renewal through the practices of yoga, meditation, healthy eating, intentional rest, beholding beauty, and being in community.

The villa rests in a secluded area near the medieval town of Lucca. It's authentic Tuscan style includes indoor and alfresco dining, outdoor terraces, a spacious indoor yoga studio with Manduka props and mats, several grassy areas for outdoor yoga, a swimming pool, beautiful gardens, and optional in-house massage services.

Costs include lodging, meals (vegetarian and locally sourced), yoga classes, meditation classes, excursions to Cinque Terre, Lucca, and Pietrasanta.

About April

April has been practicing and studying yoga since 2009. She teaches vinyasa, yin, and prenatal yoga and is registered as an E-RYT 200 and RYT 500 through Yoga Alliance. She is the lead instructor of the Advanced Studies Program offered at Castro Valley Yoga, where she is co-owner.

April completed both her 200-hour and 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training in San Diego. Though her primary study in yoga began with the physical aspects of asana, the spiritual side of the practice is what really drew her in and inspired her passion for working to bring balance to the yin and yang energies. April holds a PhD in English, and often her classes infuse aspects of the yogic tradition with poetry and philosophy. She also studies metaphysics at the Spiritual Arts Institute.

As an instructor, she focuses on inspiration and emphasizes yoga as a practice—something we constantly work to cultivate and grow. She teaches in the departments of English and Business at CSU Stanislaus and serves as a Trustee on the Board of Education for Hayward Unified School District.April has spent extensive time in Italy and is excited to share the beauty, culture, and countless wonders of Italy. She has led retreats in Italy, Portugal, California, and Arizona.
